For all those who own a OnePlus 3 or 3T, a new update numbered 5.0.1 is now available over the air. The update is for OxygenOs which is the stock OS for these phones. All you need to do is got to settings–>System Upgrade and the phone will automatically detect the available update.
It is a minor update of size 145 MB. The android version still remains 8.0.0. OnePlus 3 and 3T users faced stability and performance issues when the last OTA upgrade was releases. OnePlus had to retract the update almost immediately after facing backlash from the users. We hope that this patch rectifies the issues.
As always, the update will not be available for everyone to ensure that the download servers are not loaded. So if you do not find this update available to you, read this post to use VPN and carry out a force update.
The update brings following changes:
- It adds support to aptX HD audio to deliver HD audio over BT.
- Adds Wifi Hotspot Manager
- Security patch updated to December 2017
- Other general bug fixes and stability improvements.
There is also a drive running on the web to request OnePlus to bring the Face Unlock feature to the 3 and 3T
For the uninitiated, OnePlus 3 and 3T were successive flagship phones by OnePlus in the year 2016. Though OnePlus 5 and 5T have succeeded them in 2017, they still carry the performance punch expected out of a flagship smartphone.
