Dream Girl – Review

When you go for a Aayushamaan Khurana movie, you are already prepared for a big blowout. He is one of the top actors to go for when the movie may not be a big budget mega starrer. And especially if it’s based in North India. You will never be disappointed. Movies with taboo subjects as in Vicky Donor and Badhai Ho, seem to be his kind of genre. Meanwhile, with Andhadhun, he has also proved his mantle for thrillers.

Speaking of Dream Girl, it’s a light comedy dealing with another taboo subject, a man doing a women’s job. Actually, a man doing a women’s job is not a taboo as much, but doing a job which need pretending to be a women, can be a bit complex. And funny at the same time.

The story starts with Lokesh(Aayushamaan) showing off his skill(imitating the voice of a women) and putting it to a good use for years together. And when life kicks him around in search of job, a chance encounter with fate allows him to use his skill as a source of living. But, it’s going to get complicated when people in his regular contact are getting close to unraveling his secrets. Will Lokesh come out of it unscathed. How will his love of life react when she learns the true nature of his job? How will his father take it when he comes to know that the women with whom he plans to live the rest of his life, is none other then the son?

As mentioned earlier, it’s a light comedy without the real bursts of laughter coming out. But it’s still refreshing and is not a bore. Annu Kapoor shows he’s still capable of rocking the show. Nushrat Bharucha who has a few dialogues here and there, though she is the potrayeda ss Lokesh’s girlfriend, she’s never the focal point.

The movie will definately entertain, but don’t go out expecting a big bang.

Rating : 2.75 / 5
